Dr Ho graduated from the University of Singapore in 1976 and started training in Neurosurgery in 1977. He completed his advanced training in neurosurgery in 1982 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1983.
In 1989, he was established the Department of Neurosurgery at the Singapore General Hospital.
He headed the Department until 1992 when he left for private practice at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre.
Dr Ho specializes in all adult and pediatric neurosurgical conditions, including trauma, tumours and vascular lesions of the brain and spine. He has a special interest in the surgery for pituitary tumours, acoustic neurinomas and meningiomas. In addition, he has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of cervical and lumbar disc disease.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR TIMOTHY LEE

Associate Professor Timothy Lee graduated with honours in both medicine and surgery from University of Melbourne in 1981. He obtained FRCS (Edinburgh) in 1986 and FRCS (Surgical Neurology) in 1990.
He joined the National University Hospital, Singapore in 1985. From 1987-1990 he did his neurosurgical residency at Oxford. Upon return to Singapore, he formed and headed the division of Neurosurgery since 1990.
He is now Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital as well as Visiting Consultant at National University Hospital and National Neuroscience Institute. He is currently Co-ordinator of the Mount Alvernia Brain Centre and was formerly Director of the Vascular Programmme at NNI.
He has published 40 articles in mostly international journals, including a first author publication in Lancet, one of the top medical journal in the world. He has been invited to operate in Indonesia, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City and Christchurch, New Zealand. He has organized several workshops for training of younger neurosurgeons and received the ˇ°Star Awardˇ± and ˇ°Lend a Helping Handˇ± awards from NUH. He has a special interest in brain tumour, stroke and head injury.

JAMES TAN SIAH HENG

Dr James Tan Siah Heng is a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon with special interest in spinal surgery and pituitary surgery. He is the Director of Spine Programme at NNI.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1989 and obtained his fellowship from the Royal
College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and
Glasgow in 1995. In 1997, he obtained his
scholarship for his 2-year HMDP in Queen
Square, London where he trained under
Prof Alan Crockard and Dr Michael Powell.
He completed his neurosurgical training
and obtained his exit qualification from the
Intercollegiate Specialty Board in
Neurosurgery in 1999.
He has a special interest in treatment of
degenerative spinal diseases. Treatment
options include the use of the new
innovative artificial disc replacement for
worn-out disc as well as the traditional
fusion techniques. He was the first surgeon in ASEAN to use the Bryan Cervical Artificial Disc in 2002.
In 2003, Dr Tan was awarded a 2nd HMDP
Award to train with Prof Dieter Grob (Zurich,
Switzerland) where he undertook training
in the various forms of Minimally Invasive
Spine Techniques, including the use of
Radlofrequency Neurotomy for neck and
back pain. He was attached for a year to University Florida for
sub-specialist training in Musculoskeletal
Oncology and Adult Reconstruction in 1990.
He is also a Clinical Lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine (NUS) and Visiting Consultant to Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital.
In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, occasional golf and astronomy.
