Dr Chan is a Consultant General Surgeon practicing in Gleneagles Medical Centre. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986. He was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in June 1991 and completed his Masters in Medicine (Surgery) in August 1991 and FAMS from Academy of Medicine (Singapore) in June 1997. Dr Chan pursued his further training at Massachusetts General Hospital,USA; as a Clinical Fellow in the Department of Surgery. He also had his Surgery training at Lahey Clinic in Burlington Massachusetts, USA; Department of General Surgery in 1996 where he functioned as a Chief Resident in the Department.

On return from his training in America he was practicing as a Consultant surgeon at the Department of Surgery, Singapore General Hospital and the Department of Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre.

Over and above the routine general surgical procedures, Dr Chan has a sub-specialty interest in minimally invasive surgery, oncology surgery (cancer surgery) of the gastro intestinal tract (aesophagus, stomach, colon an rectum and the pancreas), thyroid, and breast.

Dr Chan was the general surgeon that was involved in a medical relief mission to Sri Lanka following the aftermath of the tsunami in December 2004.

Dr Ng Kheng Hong graduated from Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore and subsequently obtained his post-graduate MRCS in 2002. After the attainment of Master of Medicine in Surgery in the following year, he started his Advance Surgical Training in General Surgery with Singapore General Hospital. In 2006, he was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh after successful completion of his advanced surgical training. In the same year, he was awarded the SingHealth HMDP award for further training in advanced laparoscopic surgery. Dr Ng has a very keen interest in laparoscopic surgery, especially in the use of Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery in various general surgical procedures, like appendicetomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair and colorectal cancer surgery. He is one of the pioneers in the use of this technique in colorectal surgery. To date, he has performed more than 30 cases using this technique. As a result, he had been invited to give lectures on this advanced laparoscopic technique both locally and internationally.

Dr Ng has also a very keen interest in Robotic-assisted Surgery and championed the use of robotics in various surgical disciplines with the subsequent formation of Singapore General Hospital tripartite Da Vinci Robotic Assisted Surgery Project in 2008. This effort paved the way for the use of robotics in various departments and the purchase of the new da Vinci Si Dual Console robotic system. In 2009, he was appointed as the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Dr Ngoi graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1981 and was admitted as Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) in1985, Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and completed Master of Medicine (surgery) (Singapore) in 1986.

Dr Ngoi had the honour of the recipient of many scholarships namely Local Merit Scholarhip in Medicine, Summer Course Scholarship in Sophia University, Japan, FRACS Scholarship, Singapore Cancer Society Overseas Research Scholar and Cornell Medical College, New York - Cancer Prevention Fund Research Scholar.

Prior to the settlement as a Private Consultant at the Gleneagles Hospital, Dr Ngoi had held several posts as Medical Officer, Senior Tutor, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor and Consultant Surgeon at both the Singapore General Hospital and the National University Hospital, Singapore.

Dr Ngoi had also several academic attachments at Department of Surgery, Univesity of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital, Endoscopic Unit, St. Marks Hospital, United Kingdom, and Department of Surgery, The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Centre.

Dr Jennifer Liauw graduated from The University of Manchester, UK in 1996. After obtaining her Membership from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) in 1999, she embarked on her higher surgical training in the North West of England. She subsequently moved back to Singapore to complete her training at the Department of Surgery, National University Hospital and was awarded the Fellowship in General Surgery from The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, FRCSED (GEN) and became registered as a fully accredited specialist in General Surgery by the Ministry of Health in 2004. She became a Fellow of The Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2005.

Dr Liauw went back to the UK in 2005 as a Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford under Professor Neil Mortensen to complete her subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery with a special interest in functional bowel disorders and anal fissures.

Following that, she returned to Singapore to work in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, National University Hospital and led the establishment of CARET, a one-stop service for rectal bleeding and the NUH Pelvic Floor Centre before leaving for private practice.

Specialty Interest:

Dr Liauw is the first female colorectal surgeon in private practice and has a special interest in colorectal disorders that commonly affect women, in particular; anal fissures, hemorrhoids (piles), functional bowel disorders and pelvic floor disorders. She feels passionately about empowering her patients to make informed decisions and choices. Consequently, she decided to set up a dedicated private colorectal surgery practice to support patients who have a preference for a female colorectal surgeon.

Dr Wong is a consultant general surgeon with a special interest in colorectal surgery currently practising in Gleneagles hospital. He graduated from NUS in 1988 and has worked in Toa Payoh Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, Alexandra Hospital and Changi General Hospital up till 2004 during which time he served as a consultant surgeon.

Dr Wong was part of a medical team during operation Desert Storm in 1991 in the gulf war for 2 months attached to the 205 Territorial Army Surgical Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He completed his FRCS (Edinburgh) and MMED (Surg) post graduate qualifications in 1993 and was awarded the Chapter of Surgeons Gold Medal for distinction in the examination. Dr Wong obtained his exit qualification in general surgery, FAMS in 1999. He also spent 3 years training in a colorectal subspecialty having trained a year as fellow in the department of Colorectal surgery, Singapore General Hospital. He was given a 2 year HMDP fellowship which was spent at the University of Minnesota as a colorectal fellow in 1997/98 and a laparoscopic fellow at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio from 1998/99. During this time, he was awarded the outstanding research fellow award at the Cleveland Clinic. In 2001, Dr Wong was awarded the Chapter of Surgeons travelling fellowship and visited Omiya Medical Centre. Jichii Medical School where he was exposed to advanced endoscopic and laparoscopic techniques in colorectal surgery.

Dr Wong has special interests in anorectal surgery, laparoscopic colon surgery and endoscopy.
